Finally, the first movie. Watch one of the trailers for this Hunger Games movie below. And really, how awesome is the movie poster? =)
It’s no news to anyone that follows me on Facebook or Twitter that I’ve been counting the days for this premiere. I loved reading the trilogy – a blog post on that will be written – and I was really curious on how they would transform the books into a movie script.
Well, first of all, I think they really hit the spot on the cast. Clove, Glimmer, Cato, Foxface were awesome! And the actors that played Thresh and Rue? Couldn’t be better! Really. Peeta, Gale and Katniss. Wow. Effie, Seneca Crane and Haymitch? Amazing! But for me, the best chosen actor was Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman. When I was reading the books, I actually thought about a character he played can’t remember where, but his image was the one my mind kept flowing to, so, I was really pleased with that. And he did an amazing job, of course.
In what comes to the movie itself… well, I have some concerns. I shouldn’t, because at 27, I should already know that movies based on books can’t have the same amount of details, and most of all have some things changed. We went to the movies with a couple of friends, and one of them is also a big fan of the trilogy. As we were talking after the movie, he reminded me that some things need to be changed to be appealing to the general population. I did not love one thing they changed. I won’t spill the beans on anything, but I will say this: don’t change anything regarding the mockingjay pin! That actually pissed me off. And some other details, too. But I guess that if you haven’t read the books, the movie-way makes sense.
I would love to have seen Effie Trinket a lot more – she only appears in a couple of scenes – and I am anxious to see the second movie.
You have to watch it if you haven’t already. It’s an awesome movie and visually, probably the best in the last few years.
