Finally I got to see The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (the David Fincher version). Check out the trailer below.

I have to say one thing first. Portuguese movie critics or whoever translates the movie titles to portuguese, most often do it wrong. The portuguese titles most of the time have nothing to do with the original ones. So, when this came out, it came out as “The Men Who Hate Women (Os Homens Que Odeiam As Mulheres)” and we really got our criticism on. After watching the movie, I have to apologize for all the things I said. This is a really appropriate title and actually, more than the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (also, the book trilogy’s name when translated to english would be more like the men who hate women.

So, after all the apologies… I LOVED this movie. When I started watching it I did not realize it was that long (almost 2 hours and 40 minutes) and think I’ve never seen a movie this long that I was happy with. It has some really strong imaging but it’s done in a way that really suits the story.

It’s a really good movie that keeps your attention up high. And the actors, wow. Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgard… all really good at this. Have to say though, when I saw Stellan, I thought, hmmm, this actor always plays the evil one. Well, was right. And Rooney Mara, I had never seen her before and oh my! She’s really promising.

I hadn’t read this trilogy, and never heard of it before. And now I’ve put it on my book wishlist.

As of the award nominations… wow, I think I’m actually gonna change some of my picks. This movie has 5 Oscar nominations, and I think they should win Actress in a Leading Role (sorry Viola), Cinematography (had no pick before, and this is a must win), Film Editing (maybe half and half with Moneyball), Sound Editing (definitely) and Sound Mixing (sorry Moneyball).

Oh, and I’m obsessed with the song featured in the trailer: Trent Reznor & Karen O “Immigrant Song [Remix]”.

Really good, if you’re not under aged watch it.
