I’m not a big fan of jams. But I wanted to make a quick and easy jam to serve as a filling of my grandma’s cake. And so I did.
Before writing the recipe, I need to tell you something. I didn’t measure one thing. I didn’t. So, I’m gonna tell you the quantities close to what I used. But the great thing about jams is that you can taste it and add a bit more of sugar or fruit or rum, if you feel like it. At least, that’s what I do.
So, what did I use?
– 2 cups of frozen strawberries
– 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar
– 1/4 cup of rum
I like to use frozen strawberries and berries in general. They are good quality and really easy to use. These were the frozen strawberries that I used, from Green Grocer’s. And you can use the rum you prefer, but I have a bottle of Bacardi that my sister bought a few years ago to make eggnog, so I used that. =)
Put all the ingredients in a pan and let them heat up until starting to boil, stirring occasionally.
Then, all you need to do is let it simmer in medium heat for about 10 more minutes or until you’re satisfied with the consistency.
After it’s done, put it in a sterilized jar and immediately turn it upside down to vacuum seal it. Let it cool completely and store it in a cool place.
The rum makes the jam sweeter without the need to add as much sugar as you normally would. I think it tastes really good and everyone that has tried it so far also loved it. And it has such a pretty color, right?
If you try this recipe, tell me what you think! Would love to hear from you!
