When I turned 20, my parents gave me a new car as a birthday present. They had done that with my sister, so they did the same with me. I waited a bit over a month for the perfect color – lime green – and in August 2004, we went to get it.
I still remember as it was today – the trip back from the car dealership. I was nervous, excited, and loving the color. It was unique and there were only 5-6 in Portugal.
It was a Renault Clio, 1.5 diesel, 5 doors, no air conditioning. =) I loved it, it was my baby. We used to call it “sapinho” – little froggy. =)
On the last day of March, last Monday, I had a pretty big car accident. It was a scary time and luckily I didn’t break any bone and wasn’t majorly injured, just a lot of muscular pain. I’m still on pain meds, and probably will for a couple more days. The driver and passenger airbags didn’t open so I banged my head and the swelling is just now coming down. I have a few bruises, but I’m okay.
My beloved car, my companion in so many adventures and trips and journeys, wasn’t as lucky.
The damage was so overwhelming that the insurance company declared it as having “irrecoverable damage”.
I had a lot to deal with in the past week and will still have a lot more in the next ones, so I’m really not sure how or when I’m coming back to full force on the blog. I have a lot to share, a lot to write, a lot to post, but no energy to do it.
So, bare with me, once again, as I go through this process and hopefully I’ll have news for all of you soon.
Can’t wait to go back to my normal self and normal routine.
Have a wonderful week everyone.
