Today I put away Christmas.
I hate it and I love it.
Love it because, as you probably know too well, the house can get a bit cluttered with all the decoration. When you live in a tiny apartment, that can quickly turn into a problem. Living with extra things, in the same amount of space, for a month, is…tricky.
Hate it because I love Christmas. I love everything shiny. I love how my tree looks like with my favorite ornaments. I love how cosy it makes our home. I love coming home every day to such a beautiful living room. And I love how it instantly makes my day better. It’s almost like an automatic boost of happiness.
At least to me, it is. =)
This year I added something very special to my Christmas decor. And I’m calling it Christmas decor because it has the prettiest golden handmade frame. On the last days of work before Christmas break, I received a very awesome handmade painting, painted by a 5 year old. It was my farewell gift and it’s very special to me. Needless to say, I love it!
I’m the one on the far right, bottom row, with the bow on the head. I’m such a pretty girl! =)
Every year, around this time, I put away all the decorations. This year, I chose not to. Yes, we don’t have the tree up anymore. And yes, it’s all put away in the christmas decorations box.
And I even added the handmade ornaments I made this year to the box. I’m not sure how they’ll survive 11 months inside – they’re glass ornaments – but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
We do have really cute christmas decor, don’t you think? 😉
I love all the colors! And yes, we have a huge Bugs Bunny stocking. =)
But I digress. We usually put everything away. This year, I decided to keep a few things, at least for a while, and keep a bit of that cosy feel. And I think it looks awesome.
We kept the lighted poinsettia, the penguin cookie jar and a cute lantern from Primark.
I do think it looks very cute and cosy. I love it. And I’m a firm believer you should do what you love.
So, how about you? Do you put every christmas decoration away or do you keep some for a couple of weeks? Let me know, would love to see how you deal with putting away christmas and the void it causes. =)
