My new Glasses – Firmoo Review

*Disclaimer: the company reached out to me and sent me the product for free to review, but my opinions are 100% mine and exactly what I felt during the process of choosing, checking out and using the glasses.*

Hi everyone!

So, a couple weeks ago, Firmoo reached out to me and asked if I would like to try their service. For those of you that have no idea what Firmoo is…

Firmoo.com is the world’s most popular online eyeglasses store. Years of expertise in optical industry enable Firmoo.com to offer varieties of prescription eyewear to the consuming public in high quality yet at extremely affordable prices. (read more on the About us section of their website)

Basically, you go to the website, choose a pair of glasses – prescription or non-prescription – and they’ll send it to you by mail, no muss, no fuss!

I was actually in desperate need to update my glasses and my prescription, so Firmoo contacted me with perfect timing.

I went to my optometrist and got my new prescription (note: make sure to ask for your PD – Pupillary Distance because they usually don’t give this number to you / you can also measure at home, but it may not be as precise) and then browsed the glasses so see if I had any favorites.

Every time I chose new frames in the past, I went to the store with family and tried on dozens and dozens until I found the chosen one. You see, online, you can’t do this. You kind of need to use your imagination, preferably use one of your photos on the virtual look viewer they provide, chose a frame and take a leap of faith. Yes, they do advise the preferred range of PD for each frame, so that helps with sizing. But still, it may be hard if you’re really indecisive. They do have A LOT of frames to choose from. And even after choosing the frames, they offer different types of lenses. So chances are, you’ll find a pair for you.

I found 4 or 5, and asked my boyfriend for his opinion, so it was kind of a makeshift of my “going to the store with family to choose new frames” situation. We ended up choosing this frame in blue (click on the photo to go to the description):

I placed the order and it was incredibly easy to fill in all the data for my prescription. I was actually worried because I also have astigmatism, but it was all perfectly explained everywhere. You need to be really distracted to do it wrong. The glasses were $26.00, shipping to Portugal was $18.75 and I got the bloggers discount so it was sent to me for free.

A couple of days later I got an email with a tracking number and 6 days total after choosing the glasses, they arrived at my house.

Here’s what I got:

They’re cute and cool, right? =)

It took me a while to get used to them, mainly because I changed my prescription and because they’re a bit larger than my last ones (see photo below). But they seem really well made and sturdy. And the lenses are so shiny and new {well, I guess that’s something that is supposed to happen with all new lenses not just these ones eheh}!

I immediately put them on and I’ve been using them since last Friday and I’m in love. They’re light, fit and frame my face, love the color and the white line dividing the dark and the lighter blues.

I’m not in love with the case they sent with the glasses but I have a really good one that I use whenever I do need to take them off (and use sunglasses instead; apart of that, I use glasses all day so it’s no big deal) so that’s okay. The cleaner cloth they sent is AMAZING. The best I’ve used. I can only hope it’s washable, because I’m finding myself using it all the time. They also sent one of those tools that are always handy.

The other thing I’m not a fan of, is the glasses sleeve. It’s not made well. There’s only one cord, which makes it hard to close… but well, that’s fine. I don’t usually use these sleeves.

All things tested and thought about and I’m placing a new order soon, this time for sunglasses. Glasses are so expensive in Portugal that I do firmly believe this is a good option. A great option. Yes, you can’t try them on before you buy them; but you can use your photo on the online viewer. Yes, they are shipped directly from their factory in China and that may freak out a person a bit but they are really good quality so I’m also okay with it.

If you don’t have an account yet, be aware that new costumers get a 50% off code on the frames sitewide. If that’s your case, click here and take advantage of this!

I will keep you updated on the sunglasses and talk a bit more after I place the order and get them, but so far, here’s my new look!
