Today’s movie is The Call.
I’m not a huge Halle Berry fan. To me, she’s a good but not great actress. But there were lots and lots of reviews raving about her performance on this movie, so I had to see it. And yes, I know it’s been out for a long time now.
The movie is about an operator, Jordan (portrayed by Halle Berry) and her quest to save two girls. She doesn’t save the first one, so she changes careers. But one day, six months after the first traumatic event, a chance for redemption appears right before her eyes.
I have to admit, Halle Berry really does an amazing job. As does little Abigail Breslin – who I’ll always remember as Olive from Little Miss Sunshine – who, in fact, was my favorite of the two.
So, overall I really liked the movie. There was action, suspense, great – amazing video editing, new and unexpected twists and turns. Up until the last 10 minutes, where the main character – Jordan – did something really stupid that no one, in real life, would be able to come out from alive. Don’t get me wrong, I know this is a movie. But up to this point, it was believable. It could happen. But when she did what she did, I immediately thought there was no way she could come out of that alive. So that bummed me out a bit. The ending, though, was perfect. Twisted minds behind this movie, I must admit. Note to self: check out the work from the director and writers, they must have other good ones.
If you’re a fan of Halle Berry or little Miss Abigail (poor kid, she will always be known like that), you’ve probably seen it already or don’t need any more convincing to go and see it now. If you’re not a die-hard fan, but you like great suspense movies – go. Watch it. And then come back and comment with your thoughts. 😉
Have a wonderful weekend!
