Movie Review Fridays! Olympus Has Fallen

movie review fridays

It’s been a while since I wrote a movie review. The truth is that for the past few months, we haven’t had the chance to watch that many movies. But I do have some that I really want to mention, so I’m starting a new series on my blog, that will run every Friday: Movie Review Fridays! And it will be on Fridays because it’s usually our movie date night. =)

Today’s movie is:

This movie reminds me one of those action movies from the late 90’s. The bad guys would done really bad things, would kill a lot of people and one man, alone, would heroically save the day. The main concept of the movie is exactly this, but Olympus Has Fallen is so much more than that.

First of all, the cast. Gerard Butler as the hero, Aaron Eckhart as the President, Morgan Freeman as the Speaker and acting President, and Melissa Leo as Secretary of Defense! Wow. Really good casting. Seriously.

Then, the story itself. That’s the scary part for me. It was so perfectly built that you can almost imagine that happening. And that story is definitely something you don’t want to see happen.

I cringed, I cried, I got goosebumps, I smiled and I was honestly happy with the end. There wasn’t a time that I felt it was way too much, that something wasn’t necessary or that something didn’t feel right. I had no clue who the director was – Antoine Fuqua – and after googling him, I found out he also directed King Arthur and Training Day, also good movies. But after this one, I think I’ll keep him on my radar.

I really enjoyed this movie and the whole experience of watching it and I think you’ll be pleased.

I can only hope that no disturbed mind out there wants to replicate it. And I really want to believe that the White House has a lot more security and smart people that the characters in this movie.

Have a great weekend!

I’ll be back on Sunday with a REALLY EXCITING POST!!

{I’ll be sharing this review on some of my favorite blogs that you should check out}
