Master Bedroom…a work in progress =)

The apartment we’ve been living in for the past 5 years is my grandma’s. She lives with my parents but the house is still hers. Which means that even though we’re living here, as it’s not our home, we’re really limited in what comes to big changes and decoration. It’s an old apartment, older than 30 years, and it’s in dire need of a big makeover. But we’re taking it slowly, changing small things at a time and renewing others.

One of the rooms that gives me the chills every day because it’s not even close to what I want is our Master Bedroom. If I can’t change all the rooms, I want to at least make this the best one of the house. And that has been a work in progress for the last few years but last week I spent a few hours taking matters into my own hands.

The room itself needs to be painted and have the trims fixed but it’s something we’re not able to do right now, so bare with me, I do know it looks bad in the photos.

We have one of those beds with storage and we’ve been accumulating a lot of things there. We don’t have much storage throughout the apartment so it’s easy to just put the things under the bed and forget about them. But last week I went through everything… and took a lot to the recycle bin {mainly old files from work that I don’t have the need to keep anymore}.

We I finished sorting through all the stuff, I could put a lot more inside that was all over the house, so it now looks a bit less cluttered. I also changed a bit the placement of the furniture. Talk about a workout!

And then, after taking care of the bed, it was time to sort everything else inside the bedroom, so it was complete caos for about an hour…

But the final placement of furniture will be somewhat close to this:

And yes, that’s a door in our bedroom. It’s the kitchen door. We took it out because the kitchen is probably the tiniest you can imagine, and not having a door gives a bit of extra space. I’m thinking of transforming that into wall art. I have a few ideas, but we’ll see.

Right now I had to move the furniture again because we’re having some problems with our window {it’s old and lets everything inside, such as cold, loud noises…} and we’re getting it fixed. But, as I said, this is a work in progress and I’ll make sure to keep sharing it with you all =) Also, if you have great ideas to take advantage of small spaces – for which ever room in the house – please leave a comment below or link in the comments your post, because I’d love to see! We live in the tiniest apartment ever and we could use all ideas!

Have a great week everyone!

Thanks! Yeah… I’m not the most regular person… And also, I only manage to paint or do something with my hands when I’m in a routine. with all these changes happening in my life I can’t concentrate. I have many things and ideas that I want to post for a long time now, but somehow I always find an excuse to not do it ๐Ÿ™
