Les Misérables Movie Review

I can’t start this movie review showing just one trailer. So, here’s three. =)

But, to say the truth, there are not enough trailers or good enough trailers that could have prepared me for this movie.

I knew the story, I think I saw the previous version of this movie or a tv show or something like that, and still, I LIVED this movie.

It’s clearly a musical, and you need to be prepared to have those songs stuck on your head for weeks. I will buy the soundtrack and I’m sure I’ll hear it to exhaustion.

When this movie came out, there were lots of bad reviews in what came to the live singing. They didn’t retouch the singing so, what they sang is what you get. I truly believe that gave much more emotion to their performances.

I have nothing to point out from any of the actors, except that they each gave so much to the performance that it is amazing. I didn’t knew some of them, and the ones I knew before this, just wowed me. I mean, Hugh Jackman, Russel Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter were already classified as amazing actors before this. But now? Wow. I have even more respect for them and their art.

There were lots of great moments, so many that if I talked about them all, I would talk you through most of the movie. But that moment when Anne sings “I Dreamed a Dream” or when Samantha Barks – one of those I had never heard about before – sings “On my Own” are certainly two of the best. You know it’s a good movie when you get the chills or you feel this wave of happiness… You just feel like you’re watching so much beauty in all its forms.

They’ve been nominated for 60 awards and had 27 wins already. But now they’re nominated for 8 Oscars: Best Achievement in Costume Design; Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling; Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song For the song “Suddenly”; Best Achievement in Production Design; Best Achievement in Sound Mixing; Best Motion Picture of the Year; Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Hugh Jackman; Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for Anne Hathaway.

And they should win them all. Seriously. That is how much I liked this movie.
