How to make the easiest and best Chorizo Bread =)

chorizobread2

This is something that I’ve been doing for almost a year now. I’ve been making every single bun and loaf of bread we eat for almost two years but I tried making chorizo bread last Summer and since then I’ve perfected the proportions to what I’m showing here today.

For those of you that haven’t tried a chorizo bread, you’re missing out! It’s something that we eat a lot here in Portugal {and I believe it’s also a hit in Spain} and it’s usually a snack food, for the middle of morning or afternoon snack.

The way I do it is really simple, fast, easy, and every synonym you can find. All you need is your favorite bread dough {I ALWAYS have at least enough dough to make about 6-8 medium buns in the fridge –ย check out my post about this dough} and a chorizo. The chorizo I use is the “current” kind which is the regular chorizo around here. I prefer using chorizo with the least amount of fat. But obviously, you can use the one you prefer – or can find. If this is something that is not usually available on your grocery store, I’m sure you can find it at a specialty or international foods store. Oh, and flour, to prevent the dough to stick to your fingers like crazy and to help shape it.

1. Before starting to shape them, turn your oven on about 255ยบC – 491F. Slice the chorizo in slices of about 0.5cm (0.2inches).

2. With a bit of flour on your hands, grab a handful of dough.

3. Put three slices of chorizo in the middle of the dough.

4. Gently cover the slices with the dough, shaping the bun and being careful so there’s no openings.

5. Leave the buns to rest for about 10 minutes and put them in the oven for 30-40minutes. Just until golden.

And they’re done! They’re soft and fluffy on the inside but have a crunchy crust and I love it!

Seriously, this is so easy! And I usually make about 10-12 and freeze most of them, only taking out of the freezer the night before they’re gonna be eaten. My boyfriend takes them to work and it’s normally his mid-afternoon snack. But I can see this as being awesome to make for children to take to school. =)

You can put more slices per bun, but this is the perfect proportion for us. Hope you enjoyed it!

Have a great Tuesday!

Where has this been all my life?! What a cool idea. It’s sort of like pepperoni rolls but with chorizo! Man, I can’t wait to show this to my guy! Pinning so I don’t loose track of it.
