Grapefruit experiment = Success!

Today I peeled a grapefruit for my mid-afternoon snack. I like grapefruits and I do sometimes eat them like that. But this time, I ate a slice and was done with it. Lol. I didn’t want to let the peeled grapefruit go bad, so I tried to make something with it. Some kind of marmalade. =)

I peeled the other one that I had at home – I mean, when you’re trying something like this, you either go big or go home, right? – and cut them in big pieces. Put them with 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of rum (again, Bacardi) in a saucer and let it heat up until boiling. And no, I wasn’t that careful while peeling it. =)

After about 20 minutes in medium-low heat, the fruit was pretty much dissolved, but the peels were there. Immediate solution in my head? Blend it all together! =) Note to self: don’t put the hand on top of the blender’s lid while mixing a really hot mix. You shouldn’t either. It hurts.

After blending, I put the mix back in the pan in low heat. At this time, I added 2 tablespoons of cinnamon and 2 more tablespoons of sugar.

And after 20 more minutes, it had that great consistency of marmalade! =)

For those of you that already like grapefruit, you’ll love this. It has that sour taste but it’s sweet at the same time! I’m actually really pleased with this.
